Cats in Pennsylvania

When I was in Pennsylvania, there were many cats to be spotted.  Please enjoy the beauty of cats.

I met this cat outside a store. It was up for adoption and just a few months old.  It was so so nice!

This is Anastasia.  She’s 15, Persian and very sweet.

I got this for my dad for Father’s Day. He almost cried.  I think he probably cried when I wasn’t looking.  My dad loves Xanadu.

Many cat shirts to be found at flea markets.
Much more behind the cut!

Brother is a Box Protector

Brother Bear is back to himself.  After being a little bit sick, the steroid shot ended up making him a zombie for almost 2 weeks.  After some research, many other cats who get steroid shots become really inactive, and basically just lay there.  He would eat sometimes, but besides that he would just lay in a drawer and stare ahead.  He wouldn’t hug us, he wouldn’t play with us, he wouldn’t greet us.  We tried everything.  We tried his favorite toy, the Fly.  We tried Turkey Dinner food.  We tried dance routines (well I did).   Nothing.  It had us worried but other people said just give a few weeks, so we did… and there he is, back.  He’s back to head butting us, rubbing our legs, attacking the Fly and enjoying my dance moves (that I then pick him up and make him dance with me).  A box of food arrived a few days ago, and this is what quickly happened:
photo 4.JPG
Oh hey mom, you want in this box?
photo 2.JPG
Well too bad, I’m going to look the other way.  This box is comfy.
photo 5.JPG
Oh, mom is still there.
photo 3.JPG
Maybe I’ll just swing my tail and she’ll go away.
photo.JPG
Ok, wait. Is there plastic in the box? Why didn’t you say so? Open it up!  I’ll take a nap on the plastic now.  Wrap it around me like a blanket.

Flash Attack

I’m visiting my Dad and family for a few days.  It’s lots of flea markets, laying in grass, eating yummy food and talking about childhood memories.  It’s amazing.
Another highlight is my friend Flash.  I met this guy last year, he appeared, gave me kisses and became my best bud.  So today, not 5 minutes there, I see my friend Flash:

He was slowly walking, then I called his name and he picked up speed.. quick!

Then the tail went up and Flash..

Gave me a big hug and kisses.  Love this fellow! What a welcome!

New Hiding Spot for FiFi Bofinkles

Don’t tell anyone, especially Xanadu, but FiFi Bofinkles has a new hiding spot.  I think it’s because 1) She likes the heat and its next to the window 2) Xanadu stole her bed.  This is usually how the process goes of me trying to lure her out.
Where’s Bofinkles? Hrmm, let me try to find her.  Oh, there she is. In a wooden cube. Sleeping.
photo 2.JPG
Hey girl, it’s mom… you there? I can see you, can you see me? Come give me kisses.

Bofinkles disappears, suddenly this appears.

Minutes later, she’s out and giving me kisses.

Brother Bear Goes to the Vet

Brother has been wheezing lately.  It started a few weeks ago and then continued to now he does it multiple times a day.  It basically sounds like this.  We bought a air purifier right away thinking there was something in the air, but it continued.  So then I came to the conclusion that I thought it was asthma or something worse, so he went to the vet yesterday.  Thankfully they were able to get him in for a emergency visit when I told them the symptoms.  So off Brother  Bear went in his stroller.  Let me just tell you about his stroller, it’s amazing.  Do you want to walk 20 blocks carrying a cat case? No.   Brother is 14 pounds and my arms are weak.  So this stroller lets him relax, feel some wind in his whiskers and enjoy a smooth ride to the vet.  If you live in the city, I’d recommend it! Yes, you get strange looks, but that’s part of the journey.

So then we go to the vet, the first nurse, a lovely young  man asked if he was friendly.  Well, not really.  To us he’s a perfect gentleman who gives kisses, snuggles with you and is the baby of the family.  But to a vet who Brother Bear suspects where the thermometer is going, nah, he’s not really friendly and wants to rip your face off.  Brother Bear quickly senses danger and has been known to make past vets bleed, throw their needles across the room, make nurses frightened where they whisper outside the room that they are scared to touch him (I can hear them).  But honestly, he’s a nice guy, a gentle giant!  So when we told him he wasn’t all that friendly, he didn’t really believe us because Brother let him pet him and rub his cheeks.  Then came the thermometer into yeah, that spot.  Brother  Bear hardly even flinched, I was kinda shocked.  Has Brother Bear finally gotten over the fear of the vet?  Was he making me out to be a liar? Was he trying to be super strong because Matthew, his papa, was there?  Was he now a calm big bear?  No, not at all.   When the doctor came in to examine him, the nurse held him down not expecting it, then suddenly the nurse basically said the hulk was about to come out and he had to let him go immediately, grab gloves because his muscles were tensing. So quickly gloves:
photo 2.JPG
This by the way was just part of examining Brother, feeling his belly, looking into his ears, attempting to look into his mouth where Brother Bear quickly just bit the stick.
The doctor decided they were going to give him some shots.  Also would we want his nails trimmed?  I nervously laughed. Yes, sure.  You see, every single vet has failed at this, some have even declined that they can’t do it.  Brother Bear doesn’t like his nails touched.  He’s growing them out.
So as soon as they left the room to prepare, he ran under my chair because he knows his Mama is going to keep him safe.

His starfish too:

So then came back in the doctor and a nurse, and then suddenly another nurse.  So 3 people, to hold down 14 pounds of Brother Bear fluff.
photo 3.JPG
And then this experience started.  They wrapped 2 towels around his head like they were committing a war crime, then the nurses wore the strong gloves.  At one point the nurse said Brother Bear was biting into his palm.  Yup, he was biting through the glove. I saw the glove said: “Cat,  Meow!”.  True.
photo 5.JPG
So they gave him 2 shots in the back, one was a steroid injection because they think it’s asthma and we’ll see if this cures this.  The other was a prevention shot incase it is something worse, so this will make sure he doesn’t get anything like pneumonia or the like.  Well I have to say, it worked.  Brother Bear has not wheezed once in the last 24 hours! YAY!  In fact, he’s laying here on my toes, looking up at me like a perfect gentleman.
Also, he got every single nail trimmed, front and back! Man, you should have heard him. He sounded like he wanted to kill and the doctor/nurses looked very alarmed.  It took some time, but they got them all.  On the bill it’s listed as “manicure”.  Hah.
photo.JPG
Brother  Bear is wrapped in this towel.  So, Brother Bear seems to be better already. Looks like it’s a case of asthma or some other allergen.  Time will tell if this will turn into a yearly event of giving him pills or shots, or maybe it will be gone completely.  But Brother Bear, what a good boy you were! Mama is so proud of you. <3

Random Kitty Friends

Today we met many new kitty friends, all within a few blocks.  All the cats were resting in shade and napping the afternoon way, it was a hot one.  They were all super friendly with kisses when we called them over, what nice new friends!

Xanadu Turns 6!

Our beloved Xanadu Pluto turns 6  years old today! In true Siamese form, she’s crazy, talkative and the most loving  kitty you could ask for.  We got her when she was 3 months old and minutes out of the carrier, she was peeking under towels and chasing balls.  We love her so much. <3
Want to relive some memories?  This is the day Xanadu arrived, Xanadu turns 1, Xanadu turns 2, Xanadu turns 3, Xanadu turns 4, Xanadu turns 5.

Brother Bear Loves His Plastic

Brother Bear is our silly boy.  He is 14 pounds, 2 years, and a furry black Maine Coon full of love.  It’s funny seeing him next to our small girls, and then learning that he’s the baby of the family.  It’s also funny because you’d think he had a big attitude to match his size, but he doesn’t, he’s gentle, very soft voice (baby meows = adorable) and super protective.  He loves afternoon belly rubs and just laying by us to know we’re ok.   He often lays next to my toes under my desk when I wake up in the morning.  Just one thing, no touching his front paws.  Not even if you’re the vet, no touching them, you don’t want to learn the hard way (like the vet did, hehe) . :)

photo.JPG

Brother Bear has one obsession, plastic.  You see he doesn’t do anything but rub his tongue on the plastic and then lay on it.  He loves to feel it on his paws, on his belly, and especially his tongue.  He never eats it, just feels it.  It’s slightly strange, but he loves it and it makes him happy.  A few days ago we got a package in the mail with a bunch of plastic protection and the below pictures are Brother in his various poses on this plastic.  Sometimes he uses them as a pillow, sometimes he lays in the middle, it all depends on his mood.  What a silly guy.

My Baby, Xanadu Pluto

I love my Xanadu.  In May she will be 6 years old! Where does the time go? We got her when she was just 3 months old.  From that very first night to today, she is a bed snuggler, curling up to me everynight.  She’s such a trickster, so smart, so chatty, she’s such a special girl.

Xanadu has found her way back into the original heated cabin and can usually be found there during the day.  During these pictures when she was spotted, she decided to cover up her face as sometimes her mom takes too many pictures of her. :)

Spotted laying in the cabin, in the sunlight near the windows.

She realized she was spotted, covering up her face.

Also, look at how she crosses her paws when she sleeps. <3

Cat Beds PT One Million

Still, the best cat beds in the world.  A few friends have got one because of our cats and now their cats are in love too.  There’s just lots of cats who are in love. And they also have hot bellies because they’re heated.  Remember, I said Brother Bear doesn’t really go in because he’s too big?  Well he kicked Essy out of hers and decided he was just going to squeeze in.

Theres a big black glorious man in my moms bed.

When I spotted him he immediately turned his head inside to hide the evidence.  With his ears and cheeks and paws sticking out.

Xanadu loves to stick her head and paws out, she often sleeps like this.

And FiFi Bofinkles is just leading a good life.
