Wow, I received such a lovely tea exchange in the mail that I was smiling ear to ear while going through it all. It was like a wonderland of teas and treats! Madi, my lovely partner from the Tea Review Blog Swap, really spoiled me and I send her endless virtual hugs. Sometimes something just makes your day ok and this definitely did the trick for the week. <3
When I opened the box it was overflowing with delight!
Notice that there is one tea bag already missing as I was making a cup while taking this picture.
Brother Bear and FiFi Bofinkles thought it was tea party time.
More tea love after the cut.
Found some leftover hearts on the streets today…
Chicken Marsala with marinated mushrooms and onions on a bed of spaetzle is one of Matthew’s favorite meals. So tonight I made him a solo serving of it and then I basked in the glory as he “OOOH” and “AAH”’d it. This is one of the best marsala recipes.
On Wednesdays we teach back to back digital photo classes at SVA. Today after class I just wanted to come home and make some tomato soup and not leave the couch, but while walking down 3rd Avenue a woman stopped and then slapped me in the shoulder and then started to yell at me “Miss! Don’t run into me”. I was really confused because 1-why did she just hit me? 2-I didn’t run into her so why is she yelling at me? 3-seriously did she just hit me? I just sort of looked at her stunned and then kept walking, including past a woman pushing a large suitcase who I assume was the person who was supposed to get the hit in the shoulder. I also thought she could just be crazy so I didn’t want to continue this.
That led me to Joe Jr’s Diner where I talked to myself into getting blueberry pancakes (and bacon) and finishing every bite. It was real good. But I feel real guilty now.
Wednesday blues. berries.
Hope you guys had a great heart day. I think everyday should be spent giving hugs and gifts because you’d like someone to feel special, but I’m going to use today as a excuse to eat a 500 calorie Crumbs cupcake.
I’m also going to use it as a excuse to have sushi for lunch with a lovely friend and some kitties who dressed up for the occasion.
Essy received some catnip hearts, she’s IN LOVE with them. Thanks Melody and Blackie and Wifi and Midi. <3
Lastly, I will use today as a excuse to give everyone cat cards and cat stickers, and anything cat related. Especially to those friends who say they don’t like cats. OH YOU WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND.
HUGS TO YOU ALL!
Wanted to share this amazing deal before I go have my sushi lunch date with some valentine cats. Look at the amazing deal on Fab today – I bought the 3 piece stone bakeware set and the 3 piece stone bowl set. Each set was $23, most sites have them for $45-50 a piece. Amazing, lots of colors today with dinnerware, bowls, flatware, etc. Check it out.
Let me tell you about my new obsession – FAB. One of the first things I do every morning is check out the new sellers (daily!) that go up. The sales only last a couple days and they have a great variety of kitchen items, art prints, clothes – but all in the kooky, fun, colorful theme. I love it. Here are some purchases I made last week.. all items I’ve been getting have been about 50% off of regular Amazon prices. Amazing, no? JOIN AND SHOP!
After a few cries from Matthew of “Won’t you make wonton soup tonight?” I finally caved in and made some this past weekend. Don’t get me wrong, this soup is one of the bests, it still ranks on my list of “wow you go girl” recipes, but folding wontons – wah wah wah. Can’t someone else do this job? Actually I told Matthew I would make the soup if he folded them but suddenly when it was time he disappeared…
Past recipe here.
And here are some lovely teas I received this week that did cause a smile. Smiles. Big ones. And rumbling bellies when I smelled some of these teas. Thanks friends. <3 <3
Pumpkin Pie, Happy Tea and English Breakfast. The Pumpkin Pie smells exactly how you would hope. The English Breakfast is classic and always starts the day for me.
Here’s a closer look at the Pumpkin Pie. Cloves, Cinnamon, Honey, Ginger and Honeybush.
I am going to try this one for dessert tonight, but it was sent from Australia and can be described as hot chocolate – but in tea form. Can this be true? I’m most excited to try this. The smell is sinfully good.
Some other surprises this week. See that Pukka chai in the bottom right? Might be a new favorite. It reminds me of Fall, baking, fields, blankets. It’s SO GOOD. I’m going to get a whole box this week.
Lots of smiles. <3
I love sending out tea packages. Picking the tea depending on your receiver’s tastes, wrapping them up, sending a little note, adding a special touch with the package. Here are a few tea exchanges I sent out this week. Hopefully they made a little smile around the world. Want to do a tea exchange?
Today we finished building the new box that will be growing the onions, carrots, spinach and kale. It’s 10×2 so quite big.
There she is, we just have to line with plastic…
And here is basically the garden setup for the upcoming year, minus some changes here or there. From last year to this year, it’s alot more organized and more boxes.
I’ll be making a chart soon to plot everything out. Garden time here we come!
Read that title again. Can you believe it? We got this broccoli harvest today – February 9.
Which turned into this much broccoli for dinner! Wowzas.
We steamed it and ate it. Boy was it good.
More garden business behind the cut. So excited for Spring!
These drumsticks are delicious and are simple to make. Pair with some steamed vegetables for a quick, yummy meal!

Salt + Pepper to flavor
Defrost your chicken if needed, then wash and pat dry.
Heat your oven to 375.
Pour a small amount of olive oil over the drumsticks then add some salt and pepper.
Bake for 35 minutes.
