Sugar Snap Peas Harvest
Today was a big 3 pound harvest of sugar snap peas. Man these guys take forever to find. Why hasn’t someone invented a bright pink sugar snap pea yet?

We put these meatballs on the grill yesterday and boy were they delicious! So if you are grilling this summer, try this recipe. I like adding sticks inside them once they’re done, makes eating fun!

Weekend Time
This weekend was spent catching up on work, the garden and the growing pile of laundry. Tomorrow I will be wearing my red, white and blue dress and celebrating with friends and yummy food. Hope you have a good one!
It’s sugar snap pea time! This means many pasta dishes with peas, tomatoes, peppers and basil. We had it for dinner last night and I’m begging to have it again tonight!
Pineapple + Strawberries + Lemonade + Mint Smoothie. Smoothies are such a easy way to get rid of fruits in the fridge.
Laundry day: Note the right side is Matthew, who basically has a black uniform. I have been trying hard to wear whites or pastels to deal with this heat.

Random Kitty Friends
Today we met many new kitty friends, all within a few blocks. All the cats were resting in shade and napping the afternoon way, it was a hot one. They were all super friendly with kisses when we called them over, what nice new friends!
This kitty was so sweet, and had such a fluffy tail. When I tried to leave..
It plopped down and gave me it’s belly, it killed me!
Eventually we had to leave and it followed us, tail up, for half a block. *SWOON*
This other kitty (not the same one) had a sweet little meow and gave me some good leg kisses and head bumps.
This kitty said it was too hot out and just continued to lay there.
How to Freeze Fresh Broccoli
Fresh broccoli is crispy and tasty, but what happens when you have so much fresh broccoli you can’t eat it all? That was our predicament with 18 full size heads being ready to harvest at the same time. But don’t fear, your broccoli won’t go to waste, you can freeze it! And I promise you it still tastes fresh and delicious. In fact I froze some earlier this week and used it for broccoli soup last night and it was hands down the best broccoli soup I’ve ever made! Besides soups you can use it for stir-fry, pasta dishes or just as a fresh side dish. 
So let’s go, let’s freeze some broccoli. Soon your freezer will look like mine… where you have to play Tetris every time you want to add something!

Tomato Update
The tomatoes are about ready to explode. So exciting to watch these guys grow as we know very soon these guys will turn into tomato monsters and take over their area of the garden. Plus the smell, I love it! PS. Check out the tomatoes just 9 days ago.
Pumpkin + Watermelon Update
The pumpkins are off to the races! Also, the white leaf below is not powdery mildew, it’s just a leaf about to die. We bought seeds that are specifically powdery mildew resistant this year… hopefully it stays true!
Here’s one of our watermelon, he’s growing great, but he has a bad case of aphids. Gah, I hate aphids, they ruin my life. I got the jet hose out and squirted them off, but I know they’ll be back and this is going to turn into a everyday event. I’ve tried the soapy water solution as well but it didn’t really work. Any suggestions to keep aphids away for good?
Green Beans + Sugar Snap Peas Update
Check out our green beans.. they have started to attach and climb the supports. 
See, they’re already climbing high. Isn’t it amazing how they wrap themselves around?
Also, take a look at the sugar snap peas and their massive growth. The black string off to the right is a piece of Velcro to show how tall the peas grew last year. As you can see, it’s even higher this year!
Xanadu Turns 6!
Our beloved Xanadu Pluto turns 6 years old today! In true Siamese form, she’s crazy, talkative and the most loving kitty you could ask for. We got her when she was 3 months old and minutes out of the carrier, she was peeking under towels and chasing balls. We love her so much. <3
