Drying Basil + Window Farm Update

Today I cleaned out our Window Farm because the plants grew too well.  What do I mean by that? Well look at how intense the basil roots grew:

That’s right, the roots grew through the entire cup and down to the next plant, which meant it clogged each bottle.  Last night resulted in a flood of water as each cup overflowed because of their intense roots.  So today I ripped them all out and will be starting some new ones soon.

We got a bunch of fresh basil from the plants, the smell is always the best.

It’s all drying now which will then result in dried basil which I use so often in cooking.  The best part is these plants dry by the front door so as soon as you walk into our place, it’s the smell of basil love.

I started some seedlings for spinach, lettuce and swiss chard, we’ll see how they do in the farm.
