Container Gardening – Give It A Shot

A large part of our garden is planted in containers.  We do this for 2 reasons: It’s on a roof (no ground) and it’s amazing.  Even when growing in the ground we never had the results we have had using containers.  If we were to suddenly get a yard, I think we would still grow inside containers.   It’s not only produced the quality of the plant, but it’s had amazing results with quantity of production as well.  All of our tomatoes and peppers are in sub irrigated containers.  Basically you water from the top, but then it goes down a pipe and waters itself from the bottom.  If you’re interested in trying it why don’t you buy some new planters and give it a shot? Also, Rubbermaid containers make great planters too – check our your local hardware store for sales, or even craigslist/sidewalks on trash days.
Has anyone spotted a red tomato yet? Based on schedule, I figure we’ll be seeing ours slowly start to turn in the next week or 2.

Our peppers are getting big, I wish I had something here to size comparison but some of them are almost full size already.  I can’t wait for stuffed peppers!
